Addendum

A friend pointed out that my previous discussion of Benedict XVI is a little unfair, since we don't really know what he's capable of. His job for the last 20 odd years was concerned exclusively with doctrine, so it would be hasty to cite his past record as an indication that he won't address larger world problems in the future.
