What the Hell Is a Hard Drive?
For the last 10 years or so I always thought that a hard drive was the part of your computer that stores all your files. I must have been wrong, because I got a totally new hard drive, tabula rasa so to speak, but all my files and settings and everything else are perfectly intact.

Did you send in your computer to be repaired? They probably copied all of your info onto the new drive for you. (your hard drive is where all that stuff is stored). I'm glad it's working again!
Since the Apple authority in my life says so, I believe it's true. But the repair people said that they didn't do data recovery at their place, and that I had to take it someplace else for that...hence the confusion.
